WASHINGTON, D.C.— According to a new study released by the Sutherland Institute, illegal immigrants are not the source of crimes, even though they might have entered the country illegally. China Press reports that the study, which surveyed jails in Utah, found the number of undocumented immigrant criminals in the state jail slightly increased from 280 to 308 in the last four years, while the illegal immigrant population in Utah grew from 70,000 to 110,000. The crime rates for undocumented immigrants is actually dropping. While undocumented immigrants account for 3.9 percent of Utah's crime rate, they represent 4 percent of the general population.
