Online Balita, News, Jason Gutierrez Posted: May 03, 2009

SAN JOSE, Calif. The Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) Church of Christ--celebrated the 95th anniversary of its establishment in the Philippines on July 27 with two grand religious assemblies here in the U.S. [INC is the largest indigenous Christian church in the Philippines. Its members believe that the words of God are written only in the Bible and it should be the only basis of service to God. They also do not believe in the Trinity as Catholics do.-Ed.]

In the West Coast, some 17,500 members and guests from Northern and Southern Ecclesiastical Districts gathered at the HP Pavilion in San Jose. Among the guests were San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed and Ex-mayor of Milpitas, Jose Estevez. In the East Coast, an estimated 8,000 attendees from North and South Eastern Seaboard filled the Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C.

Grand Religious Assemblies were also held in Europe at the Central Hall Westminster in London, UK and at the Parco Esposizioni Novegro in Milan, Italy. In Australia, the assembly was held at the Hills Center in Sydney.

Earlier in the Philippines, hundreds of thousands of members and guests from local congregations in Metro Manila and Rizal province gathered at the Rizal Memorial Sports Complex in Manila and at the Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City to celebrate and thank the Almighty for His bountiful blessings to the Church these past 95 years.

These enormous gatherings in Metro Manila are but two of the 14 huge anniversary assemblies simultaneously held in key cities in 12 regions of the Philippines.
