Chinese Americans Encouraged to Display American Flag

Sing Tao Daily, Posted: Jul 04, 2009

LOS ANGELES On the eve of July 4, six council members from San Gabriel and Alhambra, two cities in Los Angeles County, encouraged Chinese Americans to raise the American flag as a display of patriotism, reports the Sing Tao Daily. According to the council members, Chinese Americans are thought of as less patriotic than other groups. To counter this image, they encouraged local Chinese businesses and community members to join together and display the American flags in honor of American Independence Day. The council members visited local Chinese businesses and passed out American flags for free.
