This Week on "Stories From the Ethnic Media": A Latino lobby wants CNN Anchor Lour Dobbs off air, and African-Caribbean deportees are punished twice.
The “Basta Dobbs” or “Enough Dobbs” campaign is asking CNN to remove anchor Lou Dobbs for what they say are his defamatory and false statements about Hispanic Americans. News editor Luis Sarmiento of El Semanario de Nuevo Mexico newspaper cites what these campaign organizers are saying are falsehoods from Dobbs. And, Hispanic immigrants are front and center in the immigration reform debate but their African-Caribbean counterparts remain largely absent in the issue. That’s why the Colorlines Magazine multimedia series, “Torn Apart” focused on the deportation case of a Jamaican immigrant. Series writer Julianne Ong Hing explains why they wrote about Calvin James.
