LOS ANGELS -- U.S. fashion designer Anand Jon Alexander has been sentenced to 59 years-to-life in prison after he lost his bid for a new trial.

In sentencing him, Superior Court Judge David Wesley said Jon should be imprisoned for as long as possible for preying upon young girls and women, reports India-West.

Jon had been convicted last November of 14 counts, including rape. He was found not guilty of four felonies, and jurors could not reach a verdict on three counts.
