Leading Arab American Newspaper Endorses Obama

Arab American News, Posted: Oct 29, 2008

DEARBORN, Mich. The Arab American News has endorsed Senator Barack Obama for president, it announced on October 25.

The endorsement cited George W. Bush's weakness in allowing neocons to control the government. It warned that Senator John McCain would bring the same failed policies to the presidency. Obama is the best hope for change in economic and foreign policies and for the Arab American community to live free of the discrimination engendered by racism.

The newspaper did have some criticism of the Obama/Biden ticket: Biden's strident Zionism, Obama's support of Jerusalem as the undivided capital of Israel, and Obama's failure to do what Colin Powell did in rejecting anti-Arab and anti-Muslim bigotry.
