First Puerto Rican Parade in Central Florida

La Prensa, Posted: Jul 17, 2009

LONGWOOD, Fla. -- The southern Florida county of Osceola will hold its first Puerto Rican Day parade on July 25, an event that organizers anticipate will attract thousands of Latinos from around the region. The parade is planned for Kissimmee and is being promoted as a celebration of unity and brotherhood. Ramon Quiones, president of the parade association, said the idea was sparked by the large percentage of Puerto Ricans who now live in Osceola.
