Rahm Emanuel Apologizes To Arabs

Dearborn, Mich.--Congressman Rahm Emanuel, Obamas appointed Chief of Staff, recently apologized to the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee (ADC) for anti-Arab remarks his father Benjamin Emanuel made, reports the Arab American News. In an interview with the Jerusalem Post, his father said that his sons appointment would be good for supporters of Israel and added, "why wouldn't he be? What is he, an Arab? He's not going to clean the floors of the White House." Rahm apologized by phone to the ADC from the "fullness his heart, asserting that "these are not the values upon which I was raised or those of my family." Mary Rose Oakar, ADC president said she welcomed his apology and "his pledge to meet with our community.

The ADC is the largest Arab American civil rights organization in the United States. It was founded in 1980 and headquartered in Washington D.C.
