Desert Heat Claims Lives on Border

La Opinion, Claudia Nez Posted: Sep 09, 2009

From January to June of this year, 246 Mexicans have died at the border with the United States, reports La Opinion, and the principal cause for death is dehydration. The statistics, from the Mexican Secretary of External Relations, reflect an ongoing crisis in which 344 migrants died in 2008 and another 1,000 died trying to cross the border in the two previous years.
