Chinese Media Cover the Fires

SAN DIEGO -- Chinese-language newspapers report that the fires in San Diego County have affected numerous Chinese families living in the area.
The Ming Pao Daily compares the area burned by the Southern California fires (970 square kilometers) to roughly the size of Hong Kong.
China News Service reports that there are more than 400,000 Chinese living in the greater Los Angeles area. At least 1,000 Chinese have been forced to leave homes as a result of the fire, the news service reports.
The Sing Tao Daily reports that 10 percent of those who are seeking refuge in San Diego's Qualcomm Stadium are Chinese.
