L.A. Unified School District to Lay Off Korean Interpreters

Korea Daily, Posted: Jun 25, 2009

LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Unified School District says it will lay off two full-time Korean interpreters in July citing financial difficulties, reports Korea Daily. Korean parents and students in the district say they are concerned about communication difficulties that could arise given that there will only be one remaining Korean-language interpreter in the office. A representative from the LAUSD says the district would consider hiring a part-time Korean interpreter after the summer break if necessary.
