Metro Washington a Magnet for Immigrants

The Washington, D.C., metro area is one of the most popular destinations for legal immigrants, according to the federal Department of Homeland Security. El Tiempo Latino reports on DHS data which show that the area is the fourth top choice for legal immigrants taking up residence in the United States. In 2008, 1.1 million new, legal immigrants were registered as permanent residents, and 43,000 of them moved to the nation's capital.
