El Diario/La Prensa Honors Outstanding Latino Men

NEW YORK -- In its sixth annal awards celebrating outstanding Latino men, El Diario/La Prensa presented its El Awards to 24 men who have achieved historic milestones for Latinos and worked quietly to defend the most vulnerable populations. Among them are Feniosky Pea-Mora, dean of Columbia Universitys Fu Foundation School of Engineering and Applied Science, legendary journalist and talk show host Geraldo Rivera, and Oscar Paredes, head of a grassroots organization that defends day laborers in New York City. El Diario-La Prensa also awarded several college scholarships to young men. The group of winners includes clergy members, community activists, city commissioners, former offenders who have turned their lives around and assumed leadership positions, athletes, judges, entrepreneurs, history makers, documentarians, actors, journalists, academics, and musicians.
