North Carolina Bans Gay Marriage

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- North Carolina voters on Tuesday approved a constitutional amendment defining marriage solely as a union between a man and a woman, making it the 30th state to ban same-sex marriage. North Carolina is considered by some to be the least conservative state in the Southeast, as the only one in the region that until now has not clearly defined marriage in its Constitution.
