El Diario/La Prensa, news, Gloria Medina Posted: Oct 09, 2009

New York Latino organizations from New York are preparing to join the gay-rights march in Washington, D.C., taking place on October 11, reports El Diario/La Prensa. This year marks the 30th anniversary of the first mass demonstration by gay groups in the capital, which demanded that Congress pass legislation guaranteeing equal rights for lesbians, gays, transgendered people and bisexuals. This years focus is on gay marriage and securing a federal law making it legal.
