Chinese Companies Capitalize on U.S. Economic Woes

SAN FRANCISCO – A team of government officials and business men and women from the City of Xian, capital of Shannxi Province in Northwest China, arrived in the San Francisco Bay Area Monday to try to lure local companies into outsourcing their businesses to their city.
Government official Zhijun Li told the Sing Tao Daily that the economic crisis in the United States has had little impact on the U.S. companies’ outsourced businesses in Xian. Not only that, it would be a good opportunity for more U.S. companies to move their manufacturing bases to Xian, where labor is cheap.
Though Xian is in China’s less developed northwest area, it’s already become one of the top five foreign companies' outsourcing destinations in China, joining Shanghai, Dalian, Shenzhen and Chengdu.
