The president invited the popular radio announcer to the White House and met with him in private in the Oval Office. "For me it was an honor to have had the opportunity to interview President Barack Obama in the Oval Office and for him to talk directly with our community on topics of interest to Hispanics," said Sotelo. During the presidential campaign, Obama made several appearances on El Piolin's popular Spanish-language radio show, and promised the radio personality that if elected, he would invite him to the White House.
