Anti-Illegal Immigration Protests Held in 26 States

EFE-Univision, Posted: Nov 16, 2009

An anti-illegal immigration group based in North Carolina organized more than 50 protests in 26 states Saturday against the legalization of undocumented workers, according to a report by Spanish news service EFE on Univision.com. The rallies took place one day after Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano outlined an immigration reform plan in Washington, D.C., that includes a path to legalization for millions of undocumented immigrants. Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), based in Raleigh, organized the series of protests known as "Tea Parties. According to ALIPAC, the purpose of the rallies was to gain support for their campaign to oppose legalizing the more than 12 million undocumented immigrants living in United States.
