Cuba Restricts Energy Use

El Nuevo Herald, News Report, Posted: Jun 24, 2009

HAVANA( EFE ) More than 18,000 tons of fuel have been saved since the Cuban government imposed restrictions on energy consumption June 1, according to El Nuevo Herald. The success of the conservation measures has so far made a similar program for residential use unnecessary, said government sources. The energy-saving measures were instituted because of the worsening economy globally and in Cuba, where revenue from tourism and exports has decreased.
