Arizona Human Rights Activists Caravan to D.C.

Prensa Hispana, Hector Padilla Posted: Mar 15, 2010

PHOENIX,Ariz.--Dozens of Arizona activists started a caravan to Washington, D.C., to bring attention to alleged human rights violations in the state by law-enforcement towards immigrant communities, reported Prensa Hispana.

The Spanish weekly said that the caravan would visit at least four different cities including El Paso, New Orleans, Houston, and Austin before it reaches its final destination on March 21.

We want to show how they continue to penalize hard working families and that it could extend to the rest of the nation, said Salvador Reza, a member of the PUENTE movement and Tonatierra, a non-profit organization, according to Prensa Hispana.

The participants of the caravan hope to join hundreds of thousands of people in the nations capital to call on immigration reform. Arizona is becoming the capital of hate and racial discrimination, and this has to stop, said Reza.
