Columbia To Open Research Institute in China

NEW YORK Lee Bollinger, president of Columbia University, announced Tuesday the March 20 launch of a new research institute in Beijing. A first for Columbia, the Beijing Columbia Global Centers scholars will focus on current issues in China, the World Journal reports. Bollinger said people have to understand China in order to understand the future world. The center is one of several global research institutes that university plans to open overseas. The center will not recruit students or offer classes, however.
