Ousted Honduran President Meets with Mexican President

La Opinion , Posted: Aug 04, 2009

MEXICO CITY - Ousted President of Honduras Manuel Zelaya met with Mexican President Felipe Caldern Tuesday to discuss the situation in Honduras, reports La Opinin. According to the news report, Zelayas view is that Mexico is very important to resolving the current conflict.

It is still not known whether the interim president and former National Congress President Roberto Micheletti will accept Costa Rican president scar Arias's proposal for mediation.

Ariass plan, known as the San Jos Agreement, would mean the return of Zelaya into power, creating a government of national reconciliation and advancement and elections to follow on October 28. Zelaya was overthrown in late June in a coup.
