World Journal, Posted: Jul 13, 2008

BEIJINGRestaurants that have signed an agreement with the Beijing Olympics Committee to become Olympics designated restaurants received a notice from the Committee recently to stop purchasing and selling dog meat, the World Journal reports. Dog meat is frequently consumed in China, which it is also known as fragrant meat. To respect foreigners dining habits, the Beijing Olympics Committee, supported by the Beijing government, issued the ban on dishes that call for dog meat. Restaurants that did not sign an agreement with the Olympics Committee are not subject to the new regulation.
