Facing Foreclosure, Woman Attempts Murder-Suicide

El Nuevo Herald, Posted: Feb 12, 2009

MIAMI -- A Deerfield Beach, Fla., woman whose home was under threat of foreclosure on Tuesday tried to kill her daughter and then herself by slashing their wrists, Nuevo Herald reports. Silvia Garca's husband came home after midnight and reportedly found his wife and daughter bleeding. Garca, 40, had been facing mounting financial problems since her cleaning business closed a year ago. Both Garcia and her 6- or 7-year-old daughter survived, and are currently in stable condition at separate hospitals.
