Budget Cuts Prompt SF General to Mix Black and Asian Psych Patients

Sing Tao Daily, Posted: Jan 13, 2009

SAN FRANCISCO San Francisco General Hospital will cut 21 beds for patients in its psychiatric department, the Sing Tao Daily reports. The change is a result of the budget crisis, and it means that Asian and African-American psychiatric patients will be sharing rooms. Doctors and nurses point out that psychiatric patients often have difficulties relating to unfamiliar people, and they are concerned that it will make recovery more difficult.
