Boxing Champ Predicts Pacquiao Will Stop Cotto

Philippine Mabuhay News, Posted: Aug 05, 2009

SAN DIEGO Future Hall of Famer Bernard Hopkins has predicted that Manny Pacquiao will stop Puerto Rican welterweight champion Miguel Cotto in their Nov. 14 fight at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas. The 44-year-old Hopkins, the oldest man ever to hold the world middleweight title, said the Pacquiao-Cotto fight would be an action-packed match-up that boxing fans will love because of the fighters' aggressive styles. In the end, basically, I see Cotto busted up, Hopkins said during a Friday Night Fight telecast on ESPN2. I don't think his face is gonna hold up through 12 rounds of the fight. Hopkins, who is best remembered for his 10-year reign as a middleweight world champion during which he successfully defended his title a record 20 times, described Cotto as a tough fighter who reminds him of the late Arturo Gatti, referring to the fighter's never-say-die attacking game.
