Pa. Grants 200 Green Cards in Exchange for Construction Loans

World Journal, Posted: Nov 24, 2008

NEW YORK The proposal to use more immigrants money to build the Pennsylvania Convention Center passed last Wednesday with Gov. Ed Rendells support.

The World Journal reports that about 100 million U.S. dollars from 200 immigrants will be used for the construction, and the wealthy immigrants will get green cards in return. The convention center construction has a total budget of 787 million U.S. dollars. Buck Riley, chairman of the Pennsylvania Convention Center Authority, noted that the program to take money from immigrants, known as welcome loans, has been sponsored by the federal government.
