New America Media, Video , Jr Valrey & Lawrence Fowler Posted: Jan 27, 2010
Editor's Note: In the wake of the massive destruction following Haiti's earthquake, Bay Area-based Haiti Action Committe mobilized community members to ban together in solidarity and support of Haiti. Civil-rights attorney and Haiti earthquake survivor Walter Riley shared his firsthand account of the devastation while Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson pledged to send resources to Haiti. Also, former congresswoman and activist Cynthia McKinney addresses the long-standing political struggle of Haiti, advocating for earthquake-related support through food, aid and people--not U.S troops.
