Univision, Posted: Dec 18, 2008

MIAMI -- A newly created immigration court in North Carolina granted political asylum to six Colombians on Monday, according to a report from Univision. The Colombiansa family of four and a couplehad sought asylum as victims of intimidation and violence in the ongoing conflict with guerrillas in their country. The court began operating in November, assuming some of the cases that had been heard in Atlanta, Ga., considered one of the most difficult courts for immigration cases in the country.
