Family Conflicts Are Leading Cause of Suicide for Asian Americans

World Journal, Posted: Aug 23, 2008

NEW YORK -- A research study from the University of California at Davis found that family conflicts cause more Asian Americans to commit suicide than depression and poverty the two main reasons for the average population, the World Journal reports. The research covered over 2,000 Asian and Latino American adults. Stanley Sue professor of psychology at UC Davis found 2.7 percent of the surveyed Asian Americans have tried to commit suicide. The possibility for Asian Americans with family issues to commit suicide is twice that of Asian Americans who dont have family problems.
