Chinese Fake Marriage Immigration Group Caught

NEW YORK Forty-three defendants of a Chinese immigration group were brought to Minnesota Federal Court on charges related to a fraudulent marriage scam. The Sing Tao Daily reported that the group, led by Chinese nationals Le Guo Wu and Houa Vang, hired U.S. citizens to participate in fake marriages to Chinese citizens for immigration purpose. The group recruited U.S. citizens and took them to China, where the latter were engaged to Chinese citizens whom they would then bring to the United States on K-1 fianc/fiance visas. The group paid each participant U.S. citizen $25,000. To date, at least 25 of the 43 defendants have been put into prison.
