Same Sex Marriage Boom in San Francisco

Sing Tao Daily, Posted: Aug 10, 2008

SAN FRANCISCO -- Many same sex couples are rushing to San Francisco City Hall to get married, reports the Sing Tao Daily. City records from show that 3,407 couples have been scheduled to get married from June 17 to Oct. 30. Almost half of them are same sex couples. Compared to this time last year, the numbers of couples getting married over the four and half months increased by 40 percent. More than 400 of the same sex couples are from out of California. California Attorney General Jerry Brown said if California Proposition 8 to ban same sex marriage gets passed in November, couples who got married before that time will still be protected by law.
