Colorado Compact -- A Bipartisan Push for Immigration Reform

Posted: Dec 12, 2012

Colorado leaders from both sides of the aisle are launching the Colorado Compact, a set of principles to encourage federal immigration reform. The effort was spearheaded by Democratic Senator Michael Bennet and Republican former Senator Hank Brown. More than 100 leaders in the state have signed on, including Bennet’s 2010 Republican opponent, Ken Buck.

The effort is similar to compacts in Utah, Iowa and Indiana that set forth principles to guide the state’s immigration discussion and call for federal immigration solutions.

The Colorado Compact follows on the heels of last week’s National Strategy Session on immigration, where more than 250 faith, law enforcement and business leaders announced new efforts to push for immigration reform in early 2013.
