Editorial Benefits

Because we believe that our media members should have access to the most diverse and cutting edge stories in the country, NAM is dedicated to facilitating inter-ethnic editorial exchange among our members. By digesting and syndicating the stories and voices that mainstream media misses, we are also raising the visibility of ethnic media as a field and their audiences at a national level.

  • Online Inter-Ethnic Editorial Exchange
NAM provides a hugely discounted subscription rate to ethnic media members who contribute content for syndication to our newswire service. In addition to receiving some of the most diverse editorial content available today, contributing media and their communites receive broader nationwide recognition and readership by sending their stories out over a national newswire. All stories are attributed to original ethnic media publisher.
  • Editorial Development Seminars
NAM provides multiple training sessions every year to it's ethnic media members. Experts give insider information on covering healthcare, immigration, public policy and other issues affecting America's ethnic communities. The seminars are often cohosted by educational institutions.

Business Development/Trade Association Benefits

  • Professional Development Workshops
NAM offers workshops on topics relating directly to the growth and economic viability of our members: from the importance of getting your circulation audited to creating an effective media kit, we partner with industry professionals to share this valuable knowledge among our members. These wortkshops are free or provided at minimal cost.
  • Networking Events
NAM provides media members with the chance to meet potential advertising clients, civic leaders and each other at social mixers, brainstorming sessions and corporate outreach events.
  • Newsmaker Briefings
Building on our committment of bringing political leaders and elected officials together with ethnic media representatives, NAM members have had rare opportunities to attend exclusive ethnic media briefings with high profile figures such as Secretary of State (CA), Bruce Mc Pherson, Surgeon General (CA), Richard Carmona, or San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newsom on issues pertaining specifically to their communities. NAM also hosts political debates between candidates for the ethnic media.
  • Advertising Opportunities
As part of our "high touch" approach to channeling ad dollars to the ethnic media, NCM brings members and corporate clients (including Bank of America, PG&E, The California Endowment and the State of California) together to brainstorm strategies for creating effective outreach campaigns.

The NCM/NAM Awards

NCM/NAM holds the only awards program in the country honoring excellence in ethnic media. Coined "The Ethnic Pulitzers" by the Newshour with Jim Lehrer, this annual Awards Banquet recognizes the exceptional reporting being published and broadcast by the fastests growing segment of American journalism today.
